The Schola Cantorum is comprised of eight professional singers and experienced singers with music reading facility; as such is able to sing a tremendous amount of fine choral literature. Included in its repertoire is timeless Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony, works of Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and contemporary masters such as Britten, Howells, and Poulenc.
The Schola Cantorum sings during the 11:00 am Mass from September through Corpus Christi; for both the 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses during the Advent, Christmas, and Easter season, Sunday Vespers during Advent, the Lourdes Novena for Healing, the Triduum. and Diocesan liturgies.
Rehearsals are Thursday nights from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes seeks an alto section leader for its Schola Cantorum and Cathedral Choir. The choirs sing music from the historical repertoire available to Catholic choirs from the Renaissance to the present.
They sing each Sunday during the 11:00 am Mass and for the 9:00 am Mass during the Advent, Christmas, and Easter seasons from September through June. Additional services include Christmas Eve and Day, Lourdes Novena, Chrism Mass, Holy Week and Easter, 2-3 concerts during the year, and Evening Prayers.
Rehearsals are held Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
The stipend is $50 per call.
Duties include providing high quality vocal performance and support for liturgical celebrations within a variety of choral settings; encouraging and coaching individual members of the section; being punctual to all liturgies and rehearsals; arriving with music prepared and in proper order; and positively representing the Cathedral, while being respectful, courteous and friendly to parish members, visitors, Cathedral staff and leadership.
Candidates must have an excellent vocal quality (blend/solo), good sight-reading skills and be available Christmas Eve/Day and during Holy Week. Familiarity of Latin pronunciation is necessary.
