Since 1881, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has sought to plant and nourish the seeds of faith, hope and love in the City and Diocese of Spokane, Washington.
We are both the Cathedral for the Diocese and a parish church of the Diocese. As Cathedral, we are called to be stewards of a rich tradition of music and art; to provide a model for sacred liturgies; to offer our church as a center for diocesan events, and to maintain it as an appropriate house for the Bishop's chair, symbol of Episopal authority. We experieince the fullness of parish life through our ingathering with our Bishop and his people.
As Parish and Cathedral, we are a community of faith. We are called to witness to the forgiving, healing and saving presence of Jesus Christ in our sacramental, liturgical and social celebrations. We are called to teach the Word of God through formal education programs and give witness to the spirit of the Gospel through the example of our lives.
As Parish and Cathedral, we are a community of hope. We are called to welcome and support all who come to us - our senior citizens, our families and our children; the hungry and homeless of the inner city; the sick and elderly in hospitals and nursing homes; the poor and needy in our Guatemala mission.
As Parish and Cathedral, we are a community of love. We are called to be sanctified and sustained by the Eucharist - the center of our lives. We are called to share the presence of Christ with people of all ages, races, backgrounds and talents, and to ease the pain of both physical and spiritual hunger.
