The Concordia Choir, Moorhead, Minn., continues to affirm it's reputation as one of America's finest a cappella choirs. Since 1920, the 79-voice choir has performed in nearly every major hall, including Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center.
The Concordia Choir is featured in the Emmy Award-winning Concordia Christmas Concerts, which are nationally broadcast on public television. The choir's recordings are distributed internationally and through iTunes, making it one of the top-selling choirs in the country.
A February 2010 performance and recording session with the Grammy Award-winning King's Singers and multiple performance s on Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion" radio show highlight the choir's world-class quality.
Dr. Rene Clausen is the third conductor in the choir's illustrious history, assuming the role in 1986. As a composer, he has written more than 100 commissioned and in 2013 the recording of "Life and Breath: Choral Works by Rene Clausen" received the Grammy for Best Choral Performance. The tour concert includes the regional premiere of the Hans Zimmer choral composition "Aurora" written as his artistic response to the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colo. Zimmer composed the film scores for the Batman trilogy, "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Superman - Man of Steel", and others. Excelsior! Trio will join the choir on a select number of innovative works.
This year's 2014 national tour of the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii spans 15 days and includes locations between Maui and Minneapolis.
