The Eastern Washington University Orchestra and Symphonic Choir will perform works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Corelli, with a premiere of a new arrangement of the motet BWV 227 Jesu, meine Freude.

Sung Solemn Vespers in Advent
December 3, 10, 17, 4:30 pm
The season of Advent has a two-fold character, for it is time of preparation for the Solemnities of Christmas and a time when we look forward to Christ’s Second Coming. On the first three Sundays of Advent, we will pray Solemn Vespers from the
Liturgy of the Hours. The liturgy will feature the
Cathedral’s Schola Cantorum and organ.

The Schola Cantorum will perform music of Lent by composers like Palestrina, Victoria, Lassus, Dubois, and Bruckner. Take time to reflect on our Lord’s passion, death, and resurrection through the beauty of music during this season of Lent.

Nature’s Timeless Comfort

As humans, we have always been drawn to God’s gift of nature to refresh and renew us. When our souls are weary, the Creator gives forests, mountains, and oceans to bring comfort and peace. Composers of all eras have also used themes of nature as one of their vehicles of expression, to share nature’s gifts through music. This concert explores nature through the sound of music.
Faythe Vollrath, is actively heard as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States. Faythe received first prize with an excellence nomination in the Vivaldi International Music Competition and was a semi-finalist in the Petrichor International Music Competition in 2022.
